5 Must-Have Items to Bring to Your Boudoir Photoshoot

Getting ready for your first boudoir photoshoot can be a stressful task. Selecting the outfits, choosing lingerie, shopping, can all be very time consuming and daunting, especially not knowing what to expect at the photo session and once you arrive in our photo studio. So we’ve made it easy for you to pack your bags by putting together a list of must-have items that work for anyone. And if you are still in doubt after reading our guide, simply follow the rule: the more the merrier. Our style experts will help you choose your final outfits in the studio, so relax and enjoy this exciting experience!

1. BRA SETS

A well fitted good push-up bra with a matching set of underwear is a perfect start to your boudoir photoshoot lingerie collection. It is best to bring a variety of bras – play with colours and textures that suit you and that you like. From gentle pastels to bright colours, to classic black sets, any of these sets can work, but most importantly – they have to fit you well. For outfits you’ve had for a while, we always recommend to try them on a day or two before the session to make sure they fit you just as well as you remember them. You can also complement some of your bra sets collection with a garter belt and stockings to achieve that classic boudoir look!

2. BODYSUIT

A bodysuit is an all-in-one outfit that we highly recommend to bring, as it works for most body types and is a great way to rock your curves! It is very versatile and can be paired up with a blazer or even a leather jacket (channel your inner Kate Moss here!). Bodysuits are very feminine and will always work in classic black (or white for the lighter, more bridal look) or any other colour that gives you confidence (think bright reds for the femme fatale twist!).

3. BLACK & NUDE HIGH HEELS

Even if you are not so keen on wearing high heels, we highly recommend to bring at least two pairs – your highest pair of black and nude heels or pumps. They can pair up with pretty much anything and will give your legs that extra length and your mind that extra boost of confidence for a more polished boudoir look. Don’t think about comfort here – you will not be wearing them for a whole day in the studio, so feel confident to skip the comfort for the looks here.

4. COMFY ROBE & HOME SLIPPERS

Now for the extra comfort while you are in the studio, we recommend to bring your comfiest robe and home slippers to change into between the takes and while sitting in for the make-up (on average about 1.5hrs, which is a lot of sitting!). Don’t tie your robe too tightly to avoid lines on your abdomen and bring comfy slippers to walk around the studio and while sitting, as socks will have to come off at least an hour before the shoot in order to avoid lines on ankles. Besides, wearing familiar items will relax you and make you feel at least a little bit like home!

5. YOU OUTFIT

This is your moment to get creative during your photo session – bring a unique outfit you love or want to experiment with, your favourite outfit that reflects your personality or anything else you want to try – from a cosy favourite sweater and over-the-knee socks to your partner’s favourite sports hat and shirt, to an elegant gown, to that glamorous outfit you never had the occasion to wear – now is your chance! We are always up to get creative and to make this look unique and very YOU!

We always say: it is great to come prepared and ready for your boudoir photoshoot, but after all, the most beautiful accessory is your body, confidence and a smile! If you are worried about not having enough outfits, an Artistic Nude look is always an option with any session. As photographers, we think there is nothing more beautiful than a nude female silhouette and we will be thrilled to capture you in the most natural look of all!
