(Italicized text taken by Margaret Atwood Five Poems for Dolls)
There have always been dolls
as long as there have been people.
In the trash heaps and abandoned temples
the dolls pile up;
the sea is filling with them.
A self-fulfilling prophecy
Forged by the fear she’ll be forgotten
“Pick me up and play with me”
Adorned in costume, but she is still cotton
Beady eyes, painted lips, locks of curls and rose hips
As a toy, a girl, a woman; an encapsulated eclipse…
What causes them?
Or are they gods, causeless,
something to talk to
when you have to talk,
something to throw against the wall?
Stoic on her shelf, surrendered to your care
I know that I am here, but you are barely there…
A doll is a witness
who cannot die,
with a doll you are never alone.
With a doll you are never alone.
Recently I had an honor to work for a talented jewelry designer Anat Kaplan. I was touched by her amazing collection. Each piece is unique and full of personality. Also I felt I was being challenged, as I mostly photograph people lately. Take a look at the results. Anat and myself are happy with them! Please feel free to visit her website and welcome to follow her on facebook facebook
Recently I have a chance to work with talented painter Natasha Kudashkina. She painted Katya’s eight month pregnant belly. Take a look!
